Our Northern Ireland Work

Our Northern Ireland work

SCI works to secure a fairer, more inclusive society in Northern Ireland, helping to sustain and deepen the peace.

Our efforts focus on:

  • Protecting and advancing the human rights commitments in the Good Friday Agreement.
  • Securing more effective approaches to tackle inequality and disadvantage.
  • Fostering a more values-based narrative about the future of these islands & the prospect of any constitutional change.
  • Encouraging a healthier public and media discourse and narrative around progressive change.

We do this by:

  • Strengthening activist and donor leadership skills through fellowship awards, mentoring, and other bespoke learning opportunities
  • Growing and animating a diverse network of effective changemakers focused on learning, solidarity, and mutual support.
  • Encouraging continued philanthropic investment in peacebuilding and sharing the learning with other contexts
  • Supporting the enhanced participation, advocacy, and voice of marginalised communities
  • Convening activists and donors to reflect, learn, strategise, and collaborate on shared problems across the island of Ireland.
  • Producing and disseminating accessible tools, resources and research that help to secure a fairer and more inclusive society.
  • Offering strategic advice and consultancy support to donors and changemakers
