The Social Change Initiative (SCI) invited South African activist, Zelda Holtzman to visit Belfast in August 2018. Zelda was active in the ANC underground, in Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) military structures and in the SA Communist Party. From 1995 – 2003 she served as a high ranking official within the South African Police Service and led the work to transform it. She is a prominent member in the campaign against state capture in South Africa.
During her visit Zelda met and spoke with a wide range of activists. Her remarks provide an update on the current challenge of delivering social change in South Africa and offer important insights for others working to deliver fairer, more inclusive and peaceful societies.
