Phumeza Mlungwana

Phumeza was General Secretary of the Social Justice Coalition (SJC), advocating for poor communities in South Africa, tackling issues of policing, safety, and the criminal justice system.

Along with her SJC colleague Dustin Kramer, Phumeza felt there was insufficient study of transformative change processes.

They used their fellowship to examine the challenges leaders and activists face in building mass movements and campaigns for transformational change. Their international research resulted in the book Fragments of Activism.
