The Social Change Initiative (SCI) was formed in 2015 with the aim of securing progressive social change so that communities become fairer, more inclusive and peaceful.
SCI welcomes the opportunity to respond to the public consultation on Our Plan: Doing What Matters Most – the Draft Programme for Government 2024-2027 (the PfG). Our response is informed by the lessons from the Atlantic Philanthropies/Delivering Social Change partnership, cross-sectoral engagement on public service transformation in NI, interaction with our network of social change activists and funders, and international policy research on good practice in improving and transforming public policy and services.
SCI’s response includes comments on the specific priorities, missions and framework set out in the draft PfG, but we also make broader suggestions that we believe would help give best effect to its ambition of making ‘a real and positive difference to the lives of people here’. In essence, these are about making an enduring commitment to improving wellbeing for current and future generations, mandating new ‘ways of working’ to ensure effective delivery and improving governance and accountability.
