Miranda Madikane

Miranda's working career started in the arts, co-founding and managing a theatre company “Third World Bunfight”. Following having her first child, she joined the Scalabrini Centre in Cape Town, South Africa and eventually took up directorship from 2007. Miranda believes South Africa has had a unique opportunity to transition into freedom peacefully and positively and is deeply committed to building a united and strong country where all people should have equal opportunity and rights. Miranda has witnessed how the influx of migrants into South Africa has complicated its transition mainly due to perceptions around migration, and threatens the creation of an environment where individual migrants suffer rights violations. Miranda is committed to working with migrants and their families to enable their full participation and respect in South Africa.
