Elton is a thespian, and a filmmaker based in Dublin, Ireland. Originally from Zimbabwe, he holds a degree in Communications and his background is in writing, directing and acting for both stage and film. He has been using his creative work to raise awareness on topical issues and as a vehicle for change.
In Zimbabwe he was involved in developmental theatre working with high schools and community drama groups, facilitating acting and script writing workshops. Most of his art works have gained provincial and national recognition with his most recent screenplay of a drama series titled ‘A High School Diary’ securing the 2024 national award for best television production.
During his fellowship Elton is making a short film about the struggles of both male asylum seekers and queer asylum seekers who are homeless in Ireland. His aim is to highlight the gaps that currently exist in the Irish asylum system and the housing crisis in Dublin, hoping that this will alert the authorities to the need for change. The film will also serve to educate the victims of these circumstances on the support systems available to them and how to access them effectively.
