Denise Charlton
SCI Mentor
Denise is a consultant and executive coach working with organisations on strategic management, leadership and team development, and strategic communications.
She has over 25 years’ experience as a campaigner, activist and leader in areas of equality, diversity, human rights, anti-discrimination and integration issues.
Denise served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Immigrant Council of Ireland, an Independent Law Centre working on integration and migration, from 2003 until 2014. Prior to that she was the Director of Women Aid an organisation working to end gender based violence. In both roles, she worked at local, national EU and international levels on social justice issues and led successful campaigns for legislative change.
She co-founded Marriage Equality and was co- chairperson until 2013. She is the Irish Expert nominated to the European Commission Expert Group on Trafficking in Human Beings.
She is a member of the Irish Press Council, an Ambassador for the Community Foundation Women’s Fund, Vice-Chair of Children Right’s Alliance and a board member of Counter Point Arts.
