Connor McKernan

Filmmaker

Connor has worked as a filmmaker and journalist for over 15 years, collaborating with NGOs, community organisations, artists, and grassroots groups to tell stories that inform, engage, and inspire positive social change. His work is driven by a belief in the power of storytelling to amplify underrepresented voices, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for meaningful dialogue.

Throughout his career, he has explored how film and the arts can help communities better understand trauma, conflict, identity, and resilience. Much of his work focuses on community-led narratives and he develops projects that encourage people to share their experiences, connect with others, and contribute to conversations about social and cultural issues.

Connor has delivered more than 50 commissioned projects for the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, working with a range of people from marginalised communities. During the fellowship Connor will investigate the impact of violence inflicted on women and girls in Northern Ireland.
